Obituary for Josie Edwards

Mrs. Josie Jordan Edwards, a native of Silas, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, was born on September 21, 1927-the daughter of Ellis and Geneva Jordan. Josie accepted Christ during her early adult life and was a longtime member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. She departed this life on December 6, 2008 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Willie Edwards. She leaves to cherish her memories, five loving and devoted children. Sons, Jesse (Lorena) Harper, Sacramento, California, James (Kiyomi) Harper, Palo Alto, California, Michael Edwards and daughters, Linda H. (George) Robertson and Jean (Angelo) Archible, Mobile, AL , stepdaughter, Hattie McMillian of Montgomery, AL two brothers, Ellis (Inell) Jordan, Mobile, AL and Grover (Dorothy) Jordan, Salinas, California. Ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and devoted niece and nephew, Latanga Clark, Birmingham, AL, and Grover (Alice) Stewart, Mobile, AL and other relatives and close friends. The family will receive friends at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Howard Johnson Sr., pastor, 9:00 am Saturday, December 13, 2008, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, 800 Mobile St., Mobile, AL. Officiating Pastor, Rev. Glenn Clarke Sr. of New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 South Broad St. Mobile, AL 36603.
