Obituary for L Brooks

L. T. Brooks-- 89, a native and resident of Citronelle born February 26, 1920 to the late Edward and Mattie Brooks, departed this life Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his residence. A United State Army veteran of World War II and a Self- Employed Carpenter. He was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and faithful deacon until his health failed. He was preceded in death by eleven siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of forty-seven years, Rosa B. Brooks, four sons, Thomas Brooks, Mobile, James Taylor, Chicago, IL., Lamarvin(Yong) Brown, Pascagoula, MS. and Johnny Brown, six daughters one devoted, Patricia Williams, both of Citronelle, Ann Smith, Chicago, Patricia Lucas, Kansas City, MO., Mildred Brooks Elzey, Mary(Javoner) Moorer, Nelma(Chester) Lewis, all of Citronelle, brother, Nathaniel Brooks, Detroit, MI., three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, great, great, great grandchild, nieces, nephews, two devoted cousins, Willie Baker and Mary Morrison, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Ellingwood, Radiation Oncology Dept. Staff, Covenant Hospice, all the churches in the Citronelle community, The Ward's, White, Harmon, Sauls and Turner families. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Friday, September 4, 2009 from 1-8pm and Saturday, September 5, 2009 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Citronelle. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad St., Mobile, AL.
