LaVenia Gray  Curtis
Mrs. LaVenia Gray Curtis, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. died Sunday, June 10, 2018 at her residence. She was a faithful member of Lily Baptist Church. She was a member of numerous civic and social organizations.
She was a graduate of Dunbar High School and a retired educator of Mobile County Public School System.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mr. Lawrence Curtis, Sr.

She is survived by two sons: Lawrence (Linda) Curtis Jr., Mobile, AL and Durand (Sharon) Curtis, Daphne, AL; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Curtis(Justin) Willerton, Ardmore, AL., Avery Curtis, Osmond Curtis, Smyrna, Ga., LaVenia Curtis, Lawrence Curtis III, Mobile, AL., Bria Gipson(Chris) Landrum, Helena, AL., Gray Curtis, Carrollton, Ga.; two great-grandsons, Christian Curtis, Mobile, AL., Christopher( CJ) Landrum, Helena, AL.; one sister, Delores Freeman, Decatur, Ga; one brother in law, Charles(Ruthie) Curtis, Mobile, AL.; sister-in-law’s, Nettie Curtis, Joyce Curtis and Edith Allen all of Mobile, AL.; step-mother-in law, Katie Curtis, Mobile, AL; one god daughter, Gwendolyn(Clifford Bryant); many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

A special thanks to her home caregivers, physicians and Springhill Hospice staff.

Her remains will lie in state at Small’s Mortuary on Friday, June 15,2018 from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and at Lily Baptist Church from 10:00 A.M. until the 12:00 P.M. Funeral Hour on Saturday, June 16, 2018 with Pastor Donnie Powell, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama.
