Obituary for Leona Thompson Marshall (Mutt)

Leona Elizabeth Thompson Marshall (Mutt), the eldest child and daughter of the late Mary Sue Evans, Amanda Blackmon, and Ben O. McDole. She was born February 17, 1927. She was a native of Camden, AL. and a resident of Mobile for 66 years. She departed this life on Friday, March 26, 2010. She was a member of the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church and a retiree of AmSouth Bank (Collins & Tuttle) of 24 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Pierre Marshall; son, Johnny Bennett McMillian; granddaughter, Muriel Williams Hamilton; and brother, Jerry Dockery. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to all. She leaves to cherish her moving memories four daughters, Gwendolyn Ankum of Montgomery, AL., Jacqueline Pettaway, Carolyn Green of Mobile, AL., and Yolanda (Kena) Dickey of Jacksonville, FL.; seven sons, Peter (Joyce) Green, Jerald (Helen) Green, Freddie (Cheryl) Marshall, Pierre Marshall, Emmanuel (Isabelle) Marshall, David (Tamika) Marshall all of Mobile, AL., Antonio (Shawanda) Marshall of Atlanta, GA.; forty six grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; one brother, Will (Nell) Blackmon of Houston, TX.; one daughter-in-law, Catherine Smith of Jackson, MS. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Rev. David L. Frazier, Sr. and the entire Revelation Missionary Baptist Church Family. Also special thanks to the Saad's Health care/hospice and staff. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary on Friday, April 2, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 noon funeral hour at the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 Taylor Lane, Mobile, AL. Rev. David L. Frazier, Sr. pastor and officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Theodore, AL. DIGNIFIED AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ENTRUSTED TO SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 SOUTH BROAD STREET, MOBILE, AL.
