Mary Ella Bates (Mae Ella) Montgomery - a native of Alberta, AL, and a resident of Prichard, born November 22, 1933 to the late Frank and Edna Johnson Bates, departed this life Thursday, March 1, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Montgomery, Sr., brother Andrew Bates and brother-in-law, Douglas Montgomery, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, son Clarence Montgomery, Jr.; three daughters, Patricia (David) Ervin, both of Prichard, Letessue (James) Coats and Marilyn Montgomery, both of Mobile; five sisters, Annie Bates and Millie Pearl (Arthur) Moye, Salina, KS, Evelyn Dobbins, Stanford, CT, Geraldine Weatherspoon, Alberta, AL. and Phillis (Robert) Young, Mobile, AL; seven brothers, Samuel (Mary), Bernard (Bertha), Dave (Cynthia) and Clarence (Hattie), all of Stanford, CT, Mark (Janice), Chattanooga, TN, Timothy, El Paso, TX, Jack (Jerri) Bates, New Castle, DE, ten grands, one loving and devoted granddaughter, Jacquista, a devoted grandson and godson, James, Jr., Jackie, Shemedia, Tremane, Cedric, Shanika, Felicia, Letches and Theresa, all of Mobile, seven great-grands, two goddaughters, Loretta Moore and Mary Dean, devoted sister-in-law, Minnie Montgomery a host of nieces, nephews, devoted cousins, Lee Earnest and Essie Seltzer, other relatives and friends, devoted friend, Emma Dailey, special friends, Charlie Randall Parker and Zera Crumley. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary, Friday, March 9, 2007 from 1-8pm and Saturday, March 10, 2007 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 505 N. Price Ave. Rev. Norvell Glover, pastor and officiating minister. Interment in Pine Crest Cemetery. Dignified and professional services are entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. Broad St, Mobile
