Obituary for Massie Winston-Sewer

Ms. Massia Catherine Winston Sewer, age 89 of St. Elmo, AL., passed on to eternal life on Thursday, April 8, 2010. Ms. Sewer was a woman of strong faith, fierce independence, unshakable strength, an inspiration to all who knew her. She confessed Christ as her person Savior at an early age and was a faithful, devoted member of New Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, St. Elmo, AL. She served in many capacities until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia M. Winston, Willie L. Winston; six brothers; one son; one grandson; one great grandson; and one son-in-law. She leaves a host of family and friends to celebrate her legacy of love and laughter, including her children, four sons, Wilfred Sewer of Mobile, AL., LC Sewer, Wallace (Barbara) Winston, Edward (Louise) Winston all of St. Elmo, AL.; five daughters, Rose M. Davis of Kenner, LA, Betty White (Randolph) Johnson of Pascagoula, MS., Sylvia J. Keyes, Jacqueline Winston (Minton) Williams of St. Elmo, AL., Gwendolyn Mosley of Sandy Springs, GA.; one sister-in-law, Theresa Winston of Mobile, AL; twenty two grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a god daughter, Angelia W. Chestang of Orlando, FL. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary on Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, April 16, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Home going Service at New Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, Boe Road, St. Elmo, AL.
