Obituary for Renee' Stewart

Ms. Renee’ Stewart was born on January 18, 1956 and departed this life for her eternal home on Saturday, October 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Finest and Robert Lee Nickerson. Renee graduated from Murphy High School in 1974 and Miles College in 1979. With a bachelor’s degree in Business, Renee worked in numerous jobs related thereto. Of particular note was the job she held at her mother’s business, Mother Finest Convenient Store. Due to her illness she retired as a Peer Counselor at AltaPointe Health Systems. Renee was a very compassionate and kindhearted person. She cared deeply about others and she was known to admonish friends and family when she perceived them as not taking care of themselves. She was the Stewart family’s oral historian. She believed deeply in family and the importance of knowing one’s family history. In this vein she was a veritable griot. She loved good music and dancing to a nice beat. She leaves to cherish her memory one devoted son, Stephen (Alicia), four grandchildren, Stephen, Jaidyn, Brailyn, and Raighyn Stewart, two brothers, Grover (Alice), Ronnie (Bernadette) of Buffalo, NY; one sister, Ann Williams, one aunt, Ann Stewart, one uncle, George Stewart, six nieces, Dana, Alicia, Tara, Dara, Rashada, and Britney; one nephew, Ron-Karar, and four great nieces, four great nephews, one great great niece and a host of relatives and friends.


Her remains will lie in state from 1-8pm Friday, November 4, 2016 at Small's Mortuary, Mobile. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 804 Farnell Lane, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
