Obituary for Rhonda Barnes

Ms. Rhonda Elaine Barnes was born January 2, 1956 to the late Lonnie Barnes Sr. and Emma D. Barnes in Spanish Fort AL. She was the oldest of eight children. She departed this life by slipping away in a peaceful sleep on Saturday January 9, 2016 at the Mobile Infirmary.
Rhonda gave her lift to Christ at an early age at St. John Baptist Church of Spanish Fort, AL. After graduating from High School, she then attended Faulkner State Community College, Bay Minette, AL, Troy State University, Troy, AL and received her degree in Nursing. Her nursing career began at Mobile Infirmary where she worked for 17 years. During her nursing career she was also employed with Fresenius Medical Care in Mobile, Fairhope, Daphne, Mississippi, Foley and Bay Minette, AL. She also worked at Montrose Bay Health & Rehabilitation in Fairhope, AL. Her career was not limited to caring for the sick; she also taught nursing at Bishop State Community College, Mobile, AL.

Left to cherish her memories is her loving mother, Emma D. Barnes of Spanish Fort, AL; four sisters, Mae Shoemore of Mobile, AL, Jacqueline Patrick of Loxley, AL, Lonnie D. Barnes of Daphne, AL, Dannette Barnes of Spanish Fort, AL; five brothers, Fred (Alberta)Cooper of Uriah, AL, Kenneth Barnes, Lonnie Barnes III, Gerald Barnes all of Spanish Fort, AL, Danny Barnes Sr. of Daphne, AL; two god children; Danny A Barnes Jr. and Lil Miss Addisyn Monica Patrick; special friends, Rhonda Johnson and son Anthony Wayne of Tuskegee, AL, Latanya Hullum of Mobile, AL, Brenda(Levi) and son Brian McCary of Selma, AL, Patrice (George ) Griffin-Corbin of Mobile, AL and Leon Shoots of Foley, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; especially the Selma and Tuskegee families.
Mrs. Barnes remains will lie in state on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Small's Mortuary, Daphne. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at the Spanish Fort Civic Center, 7361 Spanish Fort Boulevard, Spanish Fort, AL 36527. Interment will follow in the Jubilee Memorial Gardens, 27896 AL-181, Daphne, AL 36526. DIGNIFIED AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ENTRUSTED TO SMALL'S MORTUARY, INC., 8650 COUNTY ROAD 64, DAPHNE, AL 36526.
