Obituary for Richard Bredo Byrd

Richard Bredo Byrd I, MSGT (RET) was born July 5, 1934 in Mobile, AL. and departed on December 18, 2015. Richard was raised by his grandmother (Nineta Harris), mother (Lenice Doyle Byrd) and stepfather, William Byrd.
He received his formal education through the Brooklyn, NY City School System. Following High School he enlisted in the United States Air force for 22 years and 6 month. He then taught aviation mechanics at Brookley Air Field; Alabama Aviation and Technical College for 11 years before resigning due to health reasons. Soon after retiring he began painting as a hobby.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lorene Campbell-Byrd; sons, Richard B. Byrd II (Ernestine) and Gerald Byrd, daughter, Demetria D. Vaughn (Norman); sister, Angelite B. Foster; stepsons; Brian, Craig and Douglas Campbell; stepdaughter, Denise Byrd; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 11am until the 1pm funeral hour at Small’s Mortuary Chapel, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
