Obituary for Richard Lee Williams

Richard Lee Williams was born on December 18, 1947 and departed this life for his eternal home on Friday, August 5, 2016.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie Cooks and Jaleen Hosea.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife Shirley Williams; five children, Shelicia Johnson, Tara (Simeon) Herrod, Richard (Tessie) Williams, Alvin (Audrey) Williams, and Roderick Johnson; eight sisters: Vervie Fleeton, Brenda (Wendell) Thompson, Rosie McNeal, Ethel Hosea, Betty Hosea, Shellie Hosea and Angela (Andre) Love; ten brothers: Wilfred Mayes, Leroy Williams, Jimmie Cooks, James Cooks, John, (Yvonne) Cooks, Vincent Hosea, David (Debra) Hosea, Larry (Tina) Hosea, Jaleen (Vera) Hosea, and Tim (Sheryl) Burnett; one aunt, Laura Bell; devoted cousin, Benny Johnson; best friend, Major Madison, Jr.; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.



His remains will lie in state on Friday, August 12, 2016, from 1-8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 11am until the 1pm funeral hour at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1660 Dominic Street, Mobile, AL.

Interment will take place on Monday, August 15, 2016 in Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, Spanish, AL.
