Obituary for Robert D Bennett

Robert D. (Pop) Bennett a longtime resident of Bayou La Batre, AL peacefully exchanged his earthly life for his heavenly home on Thursday December 24, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Daniel L Bennett Sr. and Iola Bennett, Robert Banks, Sr. and Louise Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memories to parents, Robert Banks, Jr. and Kathy Banks, a devoted companion, Kimberly Thompson; one loved child, Breanca Thompson; four brothers, Charles Banks, Sr., Decshon (Jean) Banks, Lance (Randi Jo) Banks, Demetrius Banks, all of Bayou La Batre, AL; devoted sister, Shekinah (LaMark) Johnson; devoted cousin, Sandy (Melvin) Williams, Sr. all of Bayou La Batre, AL; four aunts, one devoted Joyce (Lewis) McCall of Theodore, AL, Linda Banks and Lawanda Banks of Bayou La Batre, AL and Michelle (Ullman) Woodard of Grand Bay, AL; three great aunts, Carrie Edwards Perris, California, Lula Pope of Rialto, California, Penny Yates of Milwaukee, WI; eight uncles, Jimmy Bennett, Daniel Bennett, Jr., Patrick Banks, Larry Banks, Steve Banks, Raphael Banks, all of Bayou La Batre, AL, Cory Lee Banks of Mobile, AL, Russell Banks of Grand Bay, AL; two great uncles, Hamp Hunt and Charles Hunt both of Bayou La Batre, AL; eight nephews; six nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 12noon until the 2pm funeral hour at Bayou La Batre Community Center, 12745 Padgett Switch Rd. Irvington, AL. Interment will follow in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Irvington, AL.
