Obituary for Robert Drakeford

Mr. Robert Earl Drakeford was born October 10, 1944 and departed this life on Friday, December 18, 2009. He was a native and resident of Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Eugune and Mary Drakeford; and brother Mr. Eugune Drakeford, Jr. He confessed Christ at an early age as his personal savior. He was a member of the Amity Missionary Baptist Church, were her served as president of the usher board and a member of the trustee board until his illness. He is a retiree of the Sothern Company (Barry Steam Plant) where he worked for 39 years. He leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife Verdean Drakeford; three daughters Robin Drakeford, Amber Drakeford, and Kimberly (Tyrone) Powell; one son Lamarious Jones; one god son Elijah Mingo all of Mobile, AL.; six sisters two devoted Carolyn (Sylvester) Green, and Minister Dorothy (Willie) Rowser both of Mobile, AL., Barbara Scott, Velma Walker, Joyce (Rev. Miceli) Lomax all of Mobile, AL. Deborah (Jerome) Burgress of Suffolk, Va.; four brothers two devoted Pastor Jerome (Susie) Drakeford of Riverdale, GA., and Gerald (Valerie) Drakeford of Saraland, AL, Minister Melvin (Minister Yevette) Drakeford of Mobile, AL., Reginald Drakeford of Birmingham, AL.; two grandchildren Tye and Jordan Powell; seven heaven sent devoted caregivers, Bettie Jones, Nikki Mingo, Gail Wilson, Ruby Watson, Michelle Watson, Lionnie Roberson, and Ronzell Mackie. The entire staff of Wiregrass Hospice. A host of nieces, nephews, and a number of other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state Saturday, December 26, 2009 after 9:00 a.m. at the Mobile Sunlight District Auditorium, 807 Seminary Street, Prichard, AL., until the 11:00 a..m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Theodore, AL. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad Street, Mobile, AL.
