Obituary for Robert Odom

Mr. Robert Lee Odom a native of Monroeville, Alabama, and a resident of Mobile, Alabama was born May 11, 1933 and departed this life on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Hall-Odom, father, Woodrow Nettles, sisters, Lee Alice Nettles and Lizzie Nettles and brother, William O'Neal Nettles. He is survived by a wife, Thelma McKissick Odom of Columbus, Georgia and sister, Bertha Nettles-Jones of Birmingham, Alabama. Eight children: David (Evelyn) McKissick, Rickey (Jacqueline) Odom, Robin (Walter) Wesley and Melissa Ball all of Detroit, Michigan. Wanda (Frank) Beauford, Tommy Odom and Becky Baker all of Columbus, Georgia and Rev. Robert (Gennett) Odom of Mobile, Alabama. Seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 25, 2009 at after 9:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 5051 Ebenezer Dr. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 South Broad Street, Mobile, Alabama.
