Obituary for Ruby Lee Scott (Mickles)

THE LIFE, LOVE & LEGACY OF
Ruby Mickles Scott
On February 7, 2020 the Angle of God whispered;
You fought a good fight and the victory is won;
Come now and take your rest.”
Ruby Mickles Scott was born July 13, 1935 in Camden, Alabama and was a resident of Mobile for 79 years. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church where she was a former member of the Finance Committee, Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, Bereavement Committee and Lector. A member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary Court #1 and Drexel Society.
Ruby graduated from Central High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree at Alabama State University and her Masters at the University of South Alabama. Mrs. Scott was a retired teacher of the Mobile County Public School System where she worked at Belsaw School in Mt. Vernon, Alabama, and Maryvale Elementary School in Mobile, Alabama. She was a Lifetime member of the National Education Association and a member of the state and local educational organizations. Mrs. Scott was also a Lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Delta Theta Omega Chapter.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Chesom Mickles and Elizabeth Lawson Mickles; husband John Phillip Scott; daughter Tanya Scott Thomas; one sister Lula M. Mickles and one nephew Johnny L. Mickles.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and caring granddaughter Alexandria “Alex” Thomas; caring son-in-law Sean Thomas; a caring brother Kenrick B. Mickles and sister Channie Dallas of Mobile, Alabama. A devoted caring daughter (niece) Deborah M. Hunter of Mobile, Alabama; a son (great nephew) Demetrius A. (LeBrasha) Mickles of Haslet Texas; a niece Rahimah Rashad of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a great nephew Dynell A. Mickles of Dallas, Texas; a nephew Terence Mickles of Mobile, Alabama; and great-great nephew Demetrius A. “D.J.” Mickles of Haslet, Texas. Three Lifelong friends May Frances Henry, Ida Hobdy, and Loretta Green. Other nieces, nephews, and friends one dedicated Joyce Wheaton. Also, her many junior helpers Carlos Coleman, LaBarron Jackson, De’Andre Bradley, Bryan Jackson and dedicated neighbors Luquen and Inez Cannon. A very special recognition to her extended family at the Fresenius Dialysis Unit on Dauphin Island Parkway.
