Obituary for Sadie Quivers Davis

MRS. SADIE LEE QUIVERS DAVIS, a lifelong native and resident of Mobile, Alabama. She was born on January 12, 1924, and departed this life on Saturday, September 12, 2009. She worked dutifully and faithfully in the Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion Church and was a graduate of Dunbar High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Davis, Sr., mother, Sadie Quivers, father, Stephen Quivers, stepmother, Elizabeth Quivers, sisters, Thomasine Woodson, Catherine Siggers and Rose Marie Craig. She leaves to cherish her memories and lament demise eight devoted children: six (6) sons, Elliott (Ruby), Bernard (Rose), Ronald, Sanford (Martha), Stanley (Gayle) of Copperas Cove, TX. and Michael; two (2) daughters, Sandie Ogles, Rialto, CA. and Janice (Costroe) Palmer, Tuscaloosa, AL., five (5) loving sisters, Yvonne (James) Powell, Mary (Fred) Stevenson, Ernestine (Rudolph) Overstreet, Augustine Quivers and Frenzetta Quivers all of Mobile, AL., numerous caring grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, the Whigham family, other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion Church, 268 St. Charles Avenue until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery North. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad Street, Mobile, AL.
