The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Obituary for Sadie Simpson

Sadie Louise Simpson, a native of Birmingham and a resident of Mobile, died Thursday at an area nursing facility. She was 83.

Simpson moved from Birmingham to Mobile and later lived in Andrews, S.C., and Atlanta before returning to Mobile.

She had attended public schools in Birmingham.

She was a member of House of Refuge in Atlanta. She was a former member of Bible Fellowship Church in Andrews.

Survivors include eight children, Leanda Hunter, Sandra Stevenson, Josephine Smith Davis, Joann Walker and Barbara Wielderholt, all of Mobile, Elaine Triggs of Gary, Ind., Sidney Hyman of Bath, Maine, and Donnie Moyd of Atlanta; 26 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until the noon service at Small's Mortuary on South Broad Street in Mobile. Burial will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
