Obituary for SFC Edmond McWilliams

Retired SFC James Edmond McWilliams entered this world April 15, 1933 and returned to his heavenly home, Thursday, February 14, 2008. He was a life-long resident of Eight Mile, AL. and a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Nancy McWilliams, two brothers, George D McWilliams, Euba McWilliams and one sister, Mary Hannah Broughton. James spent twenty two years in the US Army where he traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He received many honors including National Defense Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Bars, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 2 Bronze Stars, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (LeBanon), and Expert M16 Sharpshooter badge with Rifle Bar (Korea). He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of fourty-nine years, Esther Davis McWilliams, two daughters Maria (Bruce) Thomas of Chester, New York, Felicher (Wilborn) Jones, Mobile, AL.; three sons, one devoted Darryl Robinson, Mobile, AL., James Edmond McWilliams, Atmore, AL., Santonia Howard, Columbus, GA, a devoted Godson, Tommie Holmes, Creola, AL. Fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Maecharles Goode, Frisco, TX. and Clara De Weever, Prichard, AL., two sister-in-laws, Ophelia Johnson, Geins, LA., Andretta (Paul) Boykins, Riverside, CA.; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special Thanks to Dr. Randy Koffler. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary, Friday, February 22, 2008 from 1:00 - 8:00p.m. and Saturday, February 23, 2008 9:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. funeral hour at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Inc. 210 West Clark Ave., Prichard. Rev. Sylvester Adams, Pastor. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens, Theodore, AL. Dignified and professional services entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 South Broad St., Mobile, AL.
