Obituary for Shirley Thomas-Floyd

Shirley Clarissa Thomas Floyd-- a native of Mobile's Chricton Community and a resident of Mobile and a former resident of Long Island, NY for fifty years, born June 8, 1935 departed this life Wednesday, June 3, 2009. She met and married the love of her life. Love sustained this relationship for over forty years. In addition to her beloved husband, Eugene Floyd she leaves to cherish four children, Earline (Gregory) Hunter, both of Mobile, Eric (Joanne) Floyd, Long Island, NY., Bishop Eugene (Yolanda) Floyd, Myrtle Beach, SC. and Ericka Graham, Mobile, five grandchildren, Mavis (Antonio) Wright, Troy, Tony, Christina and Corey Floyd, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Rev. Irmatine Chastang (Edward) Barrie and Mary Houze, both of Mobile, three brothers, Eric (Nellie) Davis, Cleveland, OH., Rev. Clifton and Elton (Sandra) Thomas, all of Mobile, devoted uncle James (Selena) Thomas, aunt, Mary McDaniel, brother-in-law, Milton Floyd, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tankard and Mae France Thomas, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, among them the Rt. Rev. James L. Davis, Presiding Prelate 9th Episcopal District A.M.E. Church, devoted friends Peggy (Earl) Ludgood and Sadie Perry. Her remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary, Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 1-8pm and Friday, June 12, 2009 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour Smith Memorial A.M.E. Church, Rev. Wanda Robinson, Pastor and Officiating Minister. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Cemetery. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Smalls Mortuary 950 S. Broad St. Mobile, AL.
