Taura Cunningham-Durgin was born on June 13, 1974 and went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 2018 at her home in Mobile, Alabama. Taura was born in Manhattan, NY. She was the daughter of Esau Robinson and Marilyn Cunningham.

She attended and graduated from Davidson High School. She was employed many years at Rite-Aid on Government Street and then she worked many years at Avondale Ship Yard as an electrician until she retired.

She was the wife of Michael Durgin. They shared seventeen years marriage together. Taura was a pillar in her community and for her family. Always lending a helping hand to love ones as well as strangers. She was a strong beautiful woman whose natural beauty and attributes. She was full of Godly love and compassion for everyone. Whenever she entered a room her presence was received with gladness from all who knew her. She was an aspiration to many young and old. God was truly in her life, because she walked in according to His word, loving and giving to others. Taura enjoyed cooking, gatherings, laughter and most of all life! She was the person of strength and power. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her power and her boldness. Her sense of humor kept everyone laughing even when they were sad.

Taura Durgin is survived by her loving husband, Michael Durgin; son, Davaughnte Simon; daughter, Lil Taura “Lil Taura” Durgin; step-son, Michael Durgin, Jr.; her father, Esau Robinson; her mother, Marilyn Cunningham; brother, Randy Cunningham; sisters-in-law: Melshonda Durgin-Robbins and Midge Durgins; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and a host of friends.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, June 1, 2018, 5-8pm at Smalls Mortuary, Mobile, AL. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10am until the 12pm funeral hour at Christians United Church, 2576 Pleasant Valley Road, Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Venetian- Pine Crest Cemetery-Mobile, AL.
