Obituary for Thomas Thom) John Crockett Jr.

Thomas (Mr. Thom) John Crockett, Jr., also affectionally known as Daddy, Uncle Honey and Big Thom, who was born on October 2, 1910 to the late Thomas and Cecelia Frazier Crockett, made his transition from this life on Sunday, December 30, 2007. He was a native of Mobile and a long-time resident of Mt. Vernon, AL. Thomas retired from the L & N Railroad in 1975, after 50 years of service. Even after retirement, he was a passionate gardener and farmer until his illness. Thomas was preceded in death by many family members. He leaves to cherish his memory 15 children: Jennifer, Keith and Tommy Crockett, Mt. Vernon, AL; Marie (Cleveland) Meggs, Anna (Earl) Thomas, Elkie (Boyza) Williams, Bernice E. and Patty Crockett, Mobile, AL; Thomas G. Crockett, Plateau, AL; Gregory Crockett, Midland, GA; Meltoria Crockett, Bronx, NY; Odessa Davis and Brenda (John) Rhoads, Texas City, TX; John (Veronica) Davis and J. Bernard Davis, Galveston, TX; 2 step-daughters: Thelma Rencher, Daphne, AL and Audrey (James) Sullivan, NYC; 1 aunt: Juanita Frazier, Mobile, AL; 2 sisters-in-law: Bernice L. Crockett, Mobile, AL and Irene Mazant, Baton Rouge, LA; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and long-time neighbors, the Jones and Jackson/Riggins families. A public viewing will be Friday, January 4 from 1PM to 8PM at Small's Mortuary, 950 South Broad Street. Funeral services will be held from Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 304 Sengstak St. @ MLK on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Visitation will be held from 9AM until the 10AM Funeral Mass. Father Patrick Healy will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests memorial donations be made c/o Thomas Crockett, to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School, 304 Sengstak Street, Mobile, AL 36603. Final arrangements entrusted to Small's Mortuary. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Dignified and professional services are entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. Broad St, Mobile, AL.
