Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Velma Gulley can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies to the Gulley family. I am very sorry for your loss. Not just any words will help ease your pain during this trying time of loss. My heart truly goes out to you. God's promises provide us comfort and a beautiful hope for the future. Isaiah 25:8 says, "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces...For Jehovah himself has spoken it." Knowing too that God has locked your son in his loving memory, and yearns to resurrect him is helpful. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Condolence: My little buddy for 17 years. I am sad, but I also know she is reunited with her boy she lost in Vietnam, her husband , and her parents. Best Christmas story I have heard to date. As a child she said they would get an onion for Christmas. I asked her what she did with it, she said I ate it we was hungry. Parents gave what they could, children were thankful to get it. That's love and what Christmas is about. We take much for granted, we did not grow up in the great depression, a simple onion made a child happy. She told me many stories over the years, that's the one that stood out the most for me. I imagine growing up in the great depression , not having much is why she took so many in over the years which earned her the name "Mama" by so many. I know there are many who's lives became greater because they crossed paths with her. That is her legacy. She made the world a better place, I say that because I know it was for me. I loved my little buddy, I am sad, and I will miss her greatly. I comforted knowing she is in a better place, with family either by blood or those she accepted into her home and made them family who preceeded her. My sincerest condolences to her family and those she made family. I know what you have lost. I also know you have gained, a guardian to watch over, till we are reunited in heaven again. Velma T. Gulley, my friend, a person I admired and loved.
