Obituary for Vivian Hunt Chambers

Vivian Hunt Chambers, a native of Mobile, Alabama, and resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was called home peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at the age of 51 after a courageous fight with breast cancer. Vivian was born to the Joseph L. Hunt Jr. (deceased) and Lizziebell A. Hunt. She attended Toulminville/LeFlore High School and graduated with the class of 1982. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Dillard University in New Orleans in 1987. She was recently employed with St. Bernard Parish Government Housing and Redevelopment and also was a member of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church under Pastor Fred Luter Jr. She began seeking Christianity early in life and reaffirmed her commitment to Christ prior to her transition. Vivian was preceded in death by her father, Joseph L. Hunt, Jr., and leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, John Chambers, Jr.; mother, Lizziebell A. Hunt; devoted siblings, Nedra Andrews (Calvin), Tyrone V. Hunt (Rose Marie), Shelita Hunt Smith (Johnny) and Donetta Hunt Pickett (Joseph); a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 1pm until 8pm at Small Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Her remains will lie in state on September 12, 2015 from 10am until the 12pm funeral hour at First Baptist Church of Baltimore Street, 1200 Baltimore St. Mobile, AL.
