Obituary for Willie Samuel Jr.

Willie Samuel Jr. -- a native of Hailey, ID., and a resident of Mobile, born September 1, 1944 to the late Mr. Willie and Ida Samuel Sr., departed this life Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was a member of Arlington Street Baptist Church where he served as a faithful trustee until his death. He was employed by Alabama State Docks where he retired after forty-three years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Willie Samuel. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Arby M. Samuel, eight children, Belinda (Willie) Peterson, Stephanie Samuel, Sharon (Bobby) Pritchett, Michelle Longshaw, Eddie (Nita), William (Vickie) and Keith Austin and Harriett Alston all of Mobile, nineteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two devoted brothers, Loraine "Chop" (Margie) and Walter "Hammer" (Ollie Mae) Samuel, uncle, Walter Christian, Jackson, MS., a devoted mother-in-law, Estella O'Field, two sisters-in-law, Lee (Luther) Ward and Lucy Pritchett, god daughter, Destiny O'Field, all of Mobile, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Friday, May 29, 2009 from 1-8pm and Saturday, May 30, 2009 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour Arlington Street Baptist Church, Rev. M.J. Perryman, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane North Cemetery. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Smalls Mortuary 950 S. Broad St. Mobile, AL.
