Obituary for Wyatt Twister Shelborne

Wyatt James Shelborne, Jr., "Twister", a native of Coy, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, AL was born June 26, 1934 to the union of Wyatt James Shelborne Sr. and Julia Westry Shelborne and departed this life on Sunday, October 25, 2009. At a young age his family united with Emmanuel A.M.E. Church where he served until his passing. Mr. Shelborne served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He served as a Merchant Marine, but he ultimately retired from Atlantic Marine Shipyard. Mr. Shelborne was the owner and proprietor of the Lincoln Inn Social Club and co-owner of Club Elite. Mr. Shelborne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irma Jean Shelborne. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, four devoted children, a son, Larry Green of Chester, PA, three daughters, Sharon Johnson, Lori Dubose and Meshera Goode all of Mobile, AL, two step-daughters, Thelma Stewart (Jerome) of Cincinnati, OH, and Syrenthia (Eddie) Thrash of Montgomery, AL one loving and devoted sister, Minnie S. King, a sister-in-law, Princess Anderson of Selma, AL. Ten grandchildren, four devoted, Ashima Franklin, Tara Angion, Rolonda Johnson and Nigel Angion, four great grandsons, a devoted friend, Josephine Crumb of Mobile, AL. A host of nieces and nephews, one devoted, LeBaron A. King of Mobile, AL. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 1:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. and after 9:00a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Emanuel A.M.E. Church, 654 St. Michael Street with Rev. John L. Dees, Jr., officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00a.m. until the 11:00a.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Dignified and professional services entrusted to Small's Mortuary, 950 S. Broad Street, Mobile, AL.
